I have a research background in the field of protein biophysical chemistry. After my PhD at the University of Sydney, I spent ten years in postdoctoral research at the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia and the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute in Sydney before becoming an academic editor in 2009.
As a freelance editor, I have proofread hundreds of research papers and student theses from disciplines including molecular biology, medicine, the social sciences, artificial intelligence, engineering and finance. Whatever the field, clear, concise, logical and error-free writing is essential to showcase your research. Even if you are an experienced writer, a proofreader provides a fresh pair of eyes that can help you eliminate ambiguity and repetition and improve the clarity of your argument.
My rates are competitive, as I understand that affordability is important to students and researchers. Your quote will be based on word count, your requirements and the level of editing necessary.
Whether you need your paper proofread in 24 hours or your thesis edited in sections as you finish them, I will do my best to meet your particular requirements and timetable.
Contact me via email or phone to discuss your requirements. If you send me your document, or a significant sample and the word count, I can give you a quote and the turnaround time. I can provide a sample edit of your document if you would like to see my editing before you decide.
I will carefully review your document, checking for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting errors. I will make suggestions for improving the clarity and readability of your document. Other checks include the correct and consistent use of abbreviations, references, figures and tables. I can reduce word counts and format manuscripts according to journal submission guidelines. Reference lists can be cross-checked if you have not used a citation program such as EndNote.
Your edited document is returned to you with tracked changes and comments for you to review. If you make minor changes in response to the comments, I can check these for you at no extra cost.
Please reach me at gbacademicediting@outlook.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
I provide professional proofreading and editing services for a wide variety of documents, including research papers, theses, book chapters, grant applications, annual reports, letters to journal editors, undergraduate reports and more.
The turnaround time for proofreading/editing a document depends on its size and complexity. Shorter manuscripts, such as research papers less than 10,000 words, can be returned within 24-48 hours. For theses, a rough guide is one day per 10,000 words. I will give you a specific turnaround time when I see your document.
Pricing varies depending on the type and length of the document and the level of editing required. I can provide a quote when I have seen your document, or representative samples of it along with the word count. A sample edit of your document can be provided on request.
For student theses, prices start at $26 per 1000 words for very light editing. Research papers under 10,000 words are generally in the range of $100 to $220 per document. The minimum charge is $50.
Quotes are tailored to your particular needs; for example, if you have used a citation program such as EndNote and don't need your reference list proofread, you can exclude the reference list from the word count.
I have edited hundreds of PhD theses and papers in a wide range of fields, including molecular biology, medicine, engineering, artificial intelligence, archaeology, social science and finance. I have also edited book chapters, business documents and annual reports, but I specialise in research reports in the IMRAD (introduction, method, results and discussion) format.
Yes. While it is better to have your whole thesis proofread as one draft, sometimes it is not possible due to a looming deadline or last-minute rewrites. I know that writing a thesis can involve unpredictable and stressful delays, and will do whatever I can to help you submit on time.
